Dr. Jamie Paiva-Sharma has been a nursing adjunct faculty member at Elgin Community College since 2021. She earned her RN associate degree in 2013, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ferris State University in 2015. She has worked as a registered nurse in long term care and medical/surgical units, but spent most of her nursing career working in cardiac and medical intensive care units. In 2019, she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Rush University in 2019 and became a nurse practitioner. Jamie is a Board-Certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) specializing in hospital medicine and hospice. She has been providing clinical care and treating adults in the in-patient setting for over 11 years.

Dr. Paiva-Sharma is a resident Subject Matter Expert (SME) at an AI-driven start up that aims to prevent and reduce hospital admissions of the geriatric population. She is also a member of the American Nurses Association, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
