Course Description

This course thoroughly explores implant maintenance, glycine powder air polishing, and the link between oral and systemic health. Attendees will review identifying and managing peri-implant diseases, applying AAP guidelines to evaluate implant health, and preventing disease. The session will also cover glycine air polishing techniques, equipment care, and the advantages over traditional methods, with practical insights into daily practice. Additionally, the course examines the impact of oral health on systemic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease, providing strategies for patient education that emphasize whole-body wellness through dental care.

Course Objectives

  1. Define key terminology and understand the indications, contraindications, and techniques for effective glycine powdered air polishing while comparing its benefits with other methods.
  2. Identify characteristics of peri-implant health, mucositis, and peri-implantitis, applying the 2018 AAP Classification of Peri-implant Diseases and assessing implants for disease indicators.
  3. Recognize oral systemic correlations such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis, and explain their connection to periodontal disease and oral health.
  4. Discuss patient education strategies to improve compliance and apply insights from case studies to enhance practical skills in air polishing, implant maintenance, and patient-centered care.
