Course Description

This evidence-based course integrates three core areas of modern dentistry: periodontal therapy, peri-implant disease management, and crestal bone preservation. Participants will explore diagnostic standards, classification systems, and treatment modalities for managing periodontal and peri-implant diseases. Emphasizing prevention, early detection, and both nonsurgical and surgical approaches, the course examines how implant design, placement depth, and soft tissue management impact long-term outcomes. Through case analysis and clinical protocols, attendees will gain practical strategies to preserve bone, enhance implant longevity, and deliver patient-centered care.

Course Objectives

  1. Diagnose and classify periodontal disease using current AAP (2017/2020) guidelines.
  2. Implement evidence-based non-surgical and surgical therapies, including maintenance and referral protocols.
  3. Incorporate systemic risk factors and team collaboration into comprehensive treatment planning.
  4. Differentiate peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis using current consensus criteria.
  5. Identify and manage biological, mechanical, and iatrogenic factors contributing to peri-implant bone loss.
  6. Apply preventive and therapeutic strategies to maintain peri-implant and crestal bone stability.
  7. Evaluate how implant design, soft tissue thickness, and grafting materials influence long-term outcomes.
